Recent statements from Kataib Hezbollah and Sayyid Ali al-Sistani have raised risks to Western companies operating in Iraq. Kataib Hezbollah has called for increased attacks on US and Israeli assets, and Sistani’s call for “sufficient jihad” which whilst does not explicitly call for violence can be seen among some to further legitimise support for resistance movements.
