Ashab Al-Kahf, a lesser-known group under the Islamic Resistance of Iraq banner, recently released a generated image accompanied by threats to increase attacks on Israel.

While Ashab Al-Kahf is generally quieter than groups like Asaib Ahl al-Haq or Harakat Hezbollahal-Nujaba, they often release images like this, typically paired with vague threats and fiery rhetoric that can sound almost comical.

Last month, the group reiterated their demand for the Iraqi government to end the U.S. presence in Iraq, threatening to target both U.S. and Israeli interests in Iraq if their demand was not met.

This week, we have seen the re-establishment of attacks on U.S. bases, including Ain al-Assad in Iraq and Koniko in Syria. Additionally, a large cache of explosives and bomb-making equipment was found near Ain Al-Assad.

The factions are becoming more coordinated. With increased manpower in Yemen and enhanced logistical and intelligence support from the Iranian regime, we may well see more successful attacks against Israel and Western interests in Iraq.

Significant Actions of Ashab al-Kahf

First appeared in August 2019, more active after the US assassination of Qasem Soleimani.

It's speculated that they were active since 2017 but avoided attacking US forces involved in the fight against the Islamic State.
